Oh yeah, I should have remembered that parking analysis post.  I really liked that, and I think it's a great example of the things we should be able to do with Haskell.

As Ian has already pointed out there is cassava for CSV and there is also
http://hackage.haskell.org/package/shapefile which worked fine for me but may need a few tweaks
to make it build. See here for an example of usage of both of them:
