Works only if the remote user be default uses darcs-2, too.

Yes, I guess I didn't explain that well.  What I meant is:  On the remote host, put your 'user' version of darcs (the darcs-2.x client) first in your path.  Whether this is sufficient depends on the ssh-server configuration.  For most people, it will be sufficient.

I have a feeling you understand that but I'm not certain, hence the repeating :)
