Here's a tasklist:
1) bump ghc to 6.12.3, build & install 2) bump all the dependencies in haskell-platform package to match the new spec 3) rebuild all haskell-platform dependencies 4) rebuild rest of the binary packages we provide in extra and community 5) upload the whole set to testing, community-testing 6) test 7) move from testing to extra, community
Stages 1-4 can be done, more or less, without dev privileges.
