I belive I undertood that you have tried to install the Haskell platform. Had you tried to install just GHC using the Mac installer that you can find in: http://haskell.org/ghc/download_ghc_6_10_4.html ?
That's what finally worked for me, FWIW. I was also able to install the 6.12.1 RC on Snow Leopard.
