it would have been nice if hslibs/ surgeons took Hugs98 concerns into account...
Is Hugs still in use? Gee I thought everyone used ghci - it works on several platforms.
More seriously, I think I'd have been tempted to form an hslibs branch so that the code stays in the hslibs tree where it belongs. But who knows how long that would survive before someone cleaned it up for us?
*SIGH* Did everyone get out of the wrong side of bed this morning? I'm sorry for removing the code from hslibs. But let's cut out the snide remarks and try to move forward. For the meantime, just create a branch of hslibs before the point at which GHC switched over to the new libraries. Simon

FWIW, there's a tag hugs-Dec2001, which I used in building the December release. --Jeff

Could do that, but all available Hugs time should be concentrated
on moving towards using the new lib structure rather than sticking
with the old. I just put in a stopgap measure to work around the
unintended hslibs/ breakage that had been introduced.
