It seems that an empty (or zero-only) _startlabel[] gets assembled into a different section of the object file, thus screwing up code address arithmetic (used to find const table etc.). Thanks to Wolfgang Thaller for discovering the cause. This ugly hack just ensures that the _startLabel is never empty, and thus always precedes the bytecode. M ./src/compiler98/MainNew.hs -2 +2
