  Log:
  Report detail of compilation errors if they occur.  Replace #! line (if
  present) with blank line to ensure line numbers in error messages are
  correct.  Revert from hierarchical to haskell98 libraries for nhc98 build,
  primarily to enable gcc-bootstrapped build to proceed prior to building
  the hier libs.
