For a long time, we generated a second compiler called nhc98compT with only a few small differences from the ordinary compiler called nhc98comp. Some of the differences have now gone away, and the rest can either be incorporated directly into the ordinary compiler (where a pattern-match or test would only succeed for trace-transformed code anyway), or guarded by an extra test on the command-line flag -dbgtrans (where there might be a conflict with ordinary code).
