Haskell libraries are named differently depending on whether they're static or dynamic, so GHC can conveniently pick the right one depending on the linking needs. In getRegister' a load instruction with the smaller width of the conversion operation was generated. This loaded the most significant bits of the word in memory on a big-endian platform.
