I got the following error (on Linux):

$ make /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lHSghc-boot-th-8.0.1 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [utils/ghc-pkg/dist/build/tmp/ghc-pkg] Error 1

Very interesting. This must be quite a intermittent issue since I have not once been able to reproduce it and Karel claimed the patch I merged fixed it. Yet, Herbert noticed that the patch is actually subtly wrong. Does the attached patch fix the issue?
