I refactored a bunch of normaliseGhcPackage() functions that were littered about the testsuite into a normalise_version, see this CR: https://phabricator.haskell.org/D725 I don't know if people would find it more convenient, however, to just apply this sort of normalisation unconditionally. Could someone fix?

Do we want tests that depend on version numbers in this fragile way. They are almost bound to fail repeatedly over time.
