I have "shared:True" in my .cabal/config file. For instance on Debian, the llvm-3.6 programs are installed in `/usr/lib/llvm-3.6/bin` as `llc` and `opt`. I propose that the `configure.ac` and `aclocal.m4` configuration goop be modified to look for `llc` and `opt` in these versioned `/usr/lib/llvm-X.Y` locations. I'm also willing to do the hard yards on implementing this if people think its a good idea. Based upon the output of cabal build -j4 -v3, it looks like the parallel build is spending a lottt more time in the simplifier passes. I'm not sure what changes between the parallel and sequential builds to change this. I'll try to dig into this more in a few days, but recording this problem now before i forget.
