35KiB could be hardly called humongous.
Fair enough, but that was just for half a second of execution, and compared to the other allocation it seemed quite a lot to me. I've tried to do more profiling, but apparently running it with +RTS -hc does not takes GBs of memory very quickly, it has linear increases but then it comes back to relatively small values. I'm a bit puzzled.
