That is simple and low risk. If it's causing pain having it in, let's just do that. Ben: can you execute? If we consider putting it into `-Wall` as a bug, this is a bug-fix :-). I'll milestone as 8.0.2/highest to make sure it gets done. More elaborate solutions could be possible (see thread above), but not for 8.0.2.
