I believe I've pinned this down to 45d9a15c4b85a2ed89579106bdafd84accf2cb39 ("Fix a huge space leak in the mighty Simplifier"). * Before: 2.5GB allocated in 4.3s * After: 28.2GB allocated in 19s That's over ten times the allocation, and over 4 times the time!
