Do remove the remnants and merge. Maybe add the comments above as a Note to explain the strategy. For `RealDataCon`, you can generate an `IfaceId` decl, because that will print just the way that `pprDataConSig` worked. If you felt brave you could try converting some of the other cases. `AnId` is simple, and `ACoAxiom` is probably simple too.
