Easy to implement, very fast to compile. GHC doesn't use them. (Or at least only in ways we could do some other way.) They are there only to support hypothetical clients. Or maybe not. It'd be good to knonw who is using them. Otherwise, disgusgintly, yes perhaps Plan B is best. PS: sorry about the red herring of Plans C and D.
