As for the stats, on a perf build on GHC 7.8, I see: {{{ T3294 max_bytes_used 37702264 T4801 bytes_allocated 429277160 T3064 bytes_allocated 346679176 T6048 bytes_allocated 120594240 }}} In fact, some of these tests are presently failing validate on a clean branch for me.
