 I'm a little late to the review party, but can we change the interface of
 allocateFail so that it returns only result type, and the allocated
 pointer is returned via an argument; i.e. use it like:

 {{{
 allocateFail(Capability, W_, StgPtr*);
 StgPtr p;
 if (allocateFail(cap, n, &p)) {
   // allocation failed
 } else {
   // allocation ok; p points to memory
 }
 }}}
