#7814: panic in PPC NCG ----------------------------------------+------------------------------ Reporter: heisenbug | Owner: heisenbug Type: bug | Status: infoneeded Priority: high | Milestone: 7.8.1 Component: Compiler | Version: 7.7 Resolution: | Keywords: Operating System: Unknown/Multiple | Architecture: powerpc Type of failure: Building GHC failed | Difficulty: Unknown Test Case: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Related Tickets: ----------------------------------------+------------------------------ Comment (by heisenbug): I have no idea how to place the jump instruction in a way that it can span the maximum jump range. Maybe there is a linker trick to create a ''floating'' island. Anyway the original panic is resolved, and by controlling excessive inlining in certain source files I was able to build the libraries for PPC. I did not run any code but some smaller tests, though. We can close this bug, and possibly open a new (more specific) one? -- Ticket URL: http://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/7814#comment:18 GHC http://www.haskell.org/ghc/ The Glasgow Haskell Compiler
