#15983: Built-in support for half-floats -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: lerkok | Owner: (none) Type: feature request | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: 8.6.3 Component: Compiler | Version: 8.6.2 Resolution: | Keywords: Operating System: Unknown/Multiple | Architecture: | Unknown/Multiple Type of failure: None/Unknown | Test Case: Blocked By: | Blocking: Related Tickets: | Differential Rev(s): Wiki Page: | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Comment (by lerkok): @carter I agree that the SIMD support isn't stellar. I still think native support for half-floats (even if it was all software) would be valuable for modeling purposes and for DSL's that can use the base algorithms to generate more interesting code. I think this "feature request" makes sense, but whether there's enough ROI or something more systematic needs to be done first is obviously a GHC-HQ decision. -- Ticket URL: http://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/15983#comment:3 GHC http://www.haskell.org/ghc/ The Glasgow Haskell Compiler
