How to #include into .lhs files?

Does anyone have a working example of #include'ing Haskell code into a bird-tracks-style .lhs file with GHC? Every way I try leads to parsing errors. Is there documentation about how it's supposed to work? Help much appreciated. - Conal

Hi, I have problem with ghci+cairo on windows. When I try to load, for example like this "ghci -package cairo" it fails with the following error: Loading package random-1.0.0.2 ... linking ... done. Loading package haskell98 ... linking ... done. Loading package syb-0.1.0.2 ... linking ... done. Loading package base-3.0.3.2 ... linking ... done. Loading package mtl-1.1.0.2 ... linking ... done. : C:\Users\alexeys\AppData\Roaming\cabal\cairo-0.12.0\ghc-6.12.3\HScairo-0.12.0.o: unknown symbol `_cairo_surface_destroy' Loading package cairo-0.12.0 ... linking ... : unable to load package `cairo-0.12.0' Even simplest programs don't work in interactive mode, like for example 'Text.hs' that comes with cairo package. However compiled with 'ghc --make' everything works as expected, so its not a "missing dll" problem - everything is in place. I used 'filemon' on "ghci" and in the log I can see that 'libcairo-2.dll' was found and loaded successfully (and this library has '_cairo_surface_destroy' symbol defined). So I don't understand - what more does it want and what can be done to combat it?

Type system compiler flags

Hello everyone, I am trying to compile some code that I have written a long time ago (might have been for ghc 6.3), and I have not done much Haskell in the meantime. I have trouble compiling the code, maybe only because I do not remember the necessary flags (yes, these should be in the source files), maybe because ghc has changed. I do for example have functions like this: getnArray :: Int -> [Word8] -> Maybe (UArray Int Word8, [Word8]) getnArrayST :: Int -> [Word8] -> (forall s . ST s (Maybe (UArray Int Word8, [Word8]))) getnArrayST n bs :: ST s (Maybe (UArray Int Word8, [Word8])) = do (a :: STUArray s Int Word8) <- newArray_ (0,n-1) let loop k bs | k == n = do fa <- freeze a return $ Just (fa, bs) | k < n = case bs of (b:bs) -> do writeArray a k b loop (k+1) bs [] -> return Nothing loop 0 bs getnArray n bs = runST (getnArrayST n bs) Can someone suggest compiler flags which will make this compile with 6.8 and 6.12? I have tried -XRankNTypes -XScopedTypeVariables -fglasgow-exts but still get "Parse error in pattern" for the definition of getnArrayST. Thanks for helping. As soon as I have overcome this problem, the real fun will begin, because my program uses Template Haskell ;) Carsten

The key point is you need a 64-bit bootstrap compiler (probably until http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/3472 is fixed), however there are binary distributions of ghc you can use for this. After you install a 64-bit binary, go to the ghc src and do ./configure --with-ghc=/path/to/ghc64bin/ && make and it should work. N.B. don't install 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the same ghc, because the libraries will clobber each other. If you want to have this, change the version before you install the second arch. panic parsing a stmt in ghc 7 (possible regression?)

Hi I'm trying to make the hint library work also with ghc 7 and I'm having problems with some test-cases that are now raising exceptions. I've been able to reduce the problem to a small example. The program below runs ghc in interpreter-mode and attempts to parse an statement using ghc's parseStmt function; the particular statement is a let-expression with a \n in the middle. hi list. i have to build ghc-7.1.20110125 under mac os x, so i grabbed the stable snapshot. Everything builds fine but the resulting compiler has problems with ld. It passes gcc flags to ld like "-march=-i686". Any ideas? BTW while still here. Are there any specific docs available on building 64-bit mac os x compiler? regards pavel

Hi, My computer dies a horrible death (i.e. kernel panic) whenever I build GHC from HEAD (currently using the "quickest" build configuration). Anyone had the same problem in the past? Any workarounds? Johan

Friends Can anyone help Tim with this? Tim, it'd be a good idea to say what version of Cabal you are using (cabal --version). Also you can download a pre-compiled cabal binary I believe, which would save you cabal-installing it. (Although it seems bad that you can get into a situation where that's necesary.)
