Is "-O currently also implies -fvia-C." still true?

Hello, The GHC User's Guide, Versio 6.6.1 (http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/latest/html/users_guide/options-optimise.htm...) says: -O currently also implies -fvia-C. I seem to remember some communication a while back that seemed to imply that this is no longer the case. So my question is: Is the quoted statement still true? Thanks and best regards Thorkil
