You may wish to consult http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/1540 and, more generally, the GHC trac tickets with Operating System = Mac OS X.

The bootstrap compiler that they used in Tiger (http://www.haskell.org/ghc/dist/6.4/MacOSX/ghc-6.4-darwin-bootstrap-tiger.ta... ) does not seem to work in Leopard. I have been unable to find the origin of this bootstrap build. However, it has no dependencies on GMP.framework or GNUreadline.framework, which are nice properties.
