The new System.Process library does the setting up of pipes and forking business for you, all behind a portable API. It'll be in GHC 6.4, but there's a version here which might work for you with GHC 6.2.2: http://www.haskell.org/~simonmar/process/process.tar.gz Cheers, Simon
