I think the yellow/black is easily enough to highlight it as a battery, and saves adding gradients etc, that can become awkward if the logo is ever used in printing.

I like this last version a lot, except that the ­minus sign should be the same width and height as the horizontal bar of the plus sign. How about this? http://thomas.home.fmf.nl/haskell-platform-logo-bob-mod.svg It's an Inkscape svg file, easily editable. Thomas
