regex-base is at the bottom of the regex-* package hierarchy and has remarkably remained unchanged and working since the last release in 2010. Alas, the MonadFail change in GHC 8.8 breaks it and the maintainer, Christopher Kuklewicz, seems to have been absent for a while. Most of his other packages have long since been taken over by others. I would like to take over regex-base in order to patch it to work with GHC 8.8. -- \ Troels /\ Henriksen
