
i would recommend just using the native one. The best performance
that I was able to get with ghc 6.6 was still seven times slower then
the native sha1 implementation.

I'm not entirely certain what's triggering this, but I have identified that removing a couple of sha1 checks cuts 1s out of 15s for me. This makes me wonder whether it's worth looking into a faster sha1 implementation.
