If a problem gets posted to the Beginners list that can be solved with a "chain of compose (.)", it will often start a round of golf[*]. Perhaps that's one reason why Stack Overflow seems more popular for beginners these days. [*] This wouldn't be quite so bad *if* people included a rationale for the merits of there golfing, rather than just the obfuscated code. Happy New Year to all. Stephen
