Is there a good source for the operational semantics of Haskell? I am trying to squeeze the most efficiency out of a bit of code and am looking to remove unnecessary reductions.
You're kind of asking two questions - the first you ask explicitly, the second "how do I optimize my program" others have already answered. The first question is a very tricky one for haskell.
