you can just send actions to the GUI thread :) something like this:

main = do c <- newChan
          getChanContents c >>= forkOS . guiThread
          for [1..10] $ \i -> do
              writeChan c (print i)
          ...

guiThread (a:actions) = do a
                           guiThread actions
