Haskell may be new to you personally. That does not mean that it's okay to break what, more than 15 years worth of code?
I don't mean to come across argumentative -- rather I merely want to point out, that the way of accomplishing it in a non-breaking way was proposed in this thread: an extra keyword + a pragma to guard against name clashes. Whether it's worth the trouble or not -- again, I have no opinion of my own.
