If you're on Linux, then you may
$ ls -lah /proc/PID/fd
to see where these open files are pointing to.
And on other systems lsof can determine this information. $ lsof -p PID -- brandon s allbery allbery.b@gmail.com wandering unix systems administrator (available) (412) 475-9364 vm/sms
