I strongly agree. Presently, on Windows 7, I have to right-click and "Run As Administrator" and then approve the process via UAC to get anything done under the default --global setting
And when you switch the default to user installs (by editing the config file) does everything work ok then? I'm trying to work out if we switch the "default default", if it'll just work, or if there are further problems to solve. Duncan
