Semi-solicited advertisement of purerl. It works and is actively used in production. It even has an actor framework a la Erlang OTP: https://github.com/id3as/purescript-erl-pinto I've chatted with purerl devs, who are really nice too, and if I had a budget, I would absolutely make a concurrent system with it. We were using distributed-process within our own project until it was too much effort to keep up with newer GHC releases and packages.

We were able to replace distributed-process and friends with our own much more lightweight curryer-rpc library[1] for the simple use-case of TCP client-server interaction.
