So in a few years time when GHC has matured we can expect performance to be on par with current Clean? So Clean is a good approximation to peak performance?
No. The performance of many real world programs could be twice as fast at least, I'm relatively sure. Clean is a good short term target, but in the long run Haskell should be aiming for equivalence with highly optimised C. Thanks Neil
