You could take a look at Fran [1] and Yampa [2] which both seem to do animations in Haskell.

I don't think either of them will do precisely what I want, but they give me lots of useful stuff to think about. PS. The flying heads were disturbing though. PPS. "Yampa is still in active development. [...] This page last updated March 22 2004."
