Finally, that doesn't work so well when there are constraints on the order that the dishes are washed, for example when washing the cruddiest dishes first while there are more suds.
Ah, but that's why one runs the list 'dishes' through the function 'quickndirtysort' before beginning. It's like quicksort but orders by cruddiness :) Alas, that still doesn't capture the notion of soapywater degenerating into murkywater. cheers, Dougal.
