Interesting. I'm testing it on Window though. You're using Linux? Maybe the scheduling is different. I'm on Linux, yes. But I've no idea what could cause such a difference, since both the library and the examples are single threaded. GLFW might also be the culprit, since that's where the frame duration comes from. It might be a good idea to print the value of t in the readInput function. Under Linux, it's pretty uniform for both programs and always equal to the reciprocal of the frame rate as expected.
