Try moving 'fibs' inside 'heavyTask', like heavytask m = putMVar m $! (let fibs = 0 : 1 : zipWith (+) fibs (tail fibs) in (fibs !! 100000)) Maybe this may trick the compiler into not sharing fibs. -- Felipe.
