I know this was full of (:-) (:-), but it seems like the perfect chance to mention Blissymbols. http://unicode.org/roadmaps/smp/smp-4-14.html (the Unicode SMP road map) has a link to a proposal for adding them to Unicode, and they _are_ in active use... (A Haskell program in Blissymbols would be, well, bigger.)
