Sounds more like Mr C++ fundamentally thinks in an imperative way because that's what he is used to.

One of my first impressiions with haskell was absence of impendance mismatch between my thoughts and my code. This is not nessesarily true for everyone because people has different ways of thinking I beleive. P.S. And haskell doesn't have tendency to eat brain away like C++ does.
