-1 to making HP the first method Stack is easier to get started with and makes tinkering easier. In this sense, it's a more natural choice for beginners. Also, the Minimal option is kind of dead for Mac users since GHCForMacOSX is not maintained anymore. (NB: I speak out of personal experience and have no conflicting interests)
