Yes, you must install the package before loading Demo into GHCi, since the package contains a data file that the Demo wants to load.

Thanks! So, if I got this right, I should run: 'cabal install -fbuildExamples gnuplot' from gnuplot source root folder? Yet first I need to build gnupolt for MacOSX and Win32 that I both use. Ok, I'll give it a try...
