L.S., On my Windows PC, cabal-install crashes each time a file must be downloaded, i.e. when I try to install a package that is not in the cache and when I give command "cabal update". I deleted the file %appdata%\cabal\config to make sure it is not the cause of this crash. I tried several versions of cabal-install, the Haskell Platform I use is 2014.2.0.0. How can I solve this? Is your Haskell installation outside of the Program Files folder?
Windows has special protections on this folder.
Note: Python defaults to installing to the root folder.
