Hello, I am happy to announce the release of brittany version 0.12.0.0. This version includes a number of fantastic improvements from many excellent contributors. Additionally brittany will soon be added back to stackage. In the meantime it can be built with the stack.yaml in its source or with cabal v2-build. https://hackage.haskell.org/package/brittany-0.12.0.0 Contributors ============ * Benjamin Kovach @5outh * Doug Beardsley @mightybyte * Evan Borden @eborden * Lennart Spitzner @lspitzner * Matt Noonan @moatt-noonan * Phil Hazelden @ChickenProp * Rupert Horlick @ruhatch * Sergey Vinokurov @sergv New Collaborators ================= You may be wondering why I am sending this message instead of Lennart. Taylor Fausak and I are taking on some of the maintenance for brittany. We will hopefully lift some of the burden from Lennart so he can remain the guiding light and driving force behind the project. Changes ========== This release includes many bug fixes, additional support for a number of syntactic constructs and a few layouting modifications. For full details check the change log on github: https://github.com/lspitzner/brittany/blob/master/ChangeLog.md Again thank you to brittany's fantastic contributors for helping making this release happen. -- Evan

May I politely indicate a problem with messages like the one below. I am interested in Haskell in general and that is why I read Haskell-cafe; to keep an eye on new developments and what is going on. Unfortunately too often I see messages announcing (new versions) of packages, of which I have no idea what the package actually does (for a package named “network" I probably can guess). May I ask everyone to include at least one sentence of description in such announcements e.g. for the package below: Description ============== Brittany is a Haskell source code formatter based on ghc-exactprint. You can paste haskell code over here https://hexagoxel.de/brittany/ to test how it gets formatted by brittany. I find it annoying that I have to go to e.g. hackage just to see whether the message/package is interesting to me, Thanks in advance and keep the good work going, Doaitse Swierstra
