This sounds similar to the proposed LANGUAGE pragma which I believe is already parsed by cabal and I'd like jhc (and the other compilers) to parse it directly. Something I'd like to see come out of this comitee is a process to get new extensions standardized independently of the language. However, it would probably be enough right now to have a wiki page somewhere that we can reserve names to be used in the pragma, just so there are no conflicts between compilers.
