Actually, the newer versions of the report say you can use "--" to begin a legal lexeme (Sec. 2.3, p. 6).
Euch. Is --- the start of a comment? Either way the lexical syntax needs to be changed, either to comment -> dashes {any}<symbol {any}> newline dashes -> -- {-} or to comment -> dashes {any}<symbol {any}> newline dashes -> -- Thanks Ian
