After downloading the OSX version, and typing "hugs" to start up the language, I obtain the following error: [schellekens:~] mpcs% hugs dyld: hugs can't open library: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2) Any suggestions? Michel.

WinHugs Command Line Parsing

Hello --- This is to report a possible bug with WinHugs command line parsing. We have installed hugs and winhugs from hugs98-Feb2001.msi. We need to run hugs or winhugs with an option to set the editor, like this -E"I:\business\winedt32\winedt.exe -E=H:\WinEdt.INI [Open('%s");SelLine(%d,7)]" This tells Hugs to use the WinEdt editor which is given its -E option to set the place it looks for an initialization file (ie the users local file not the network copy) and to open the file %s at line %d with colour red (7). With hugs.exe in a DOS box this option works fine. However with WinHugs we get the error message ERROR [Open(%d),SelLine(%d,7)]" - Unable to open file "[Open(%d),SelLine(%d,7)]"" and the editor is set to ``=H:\WinEdt.INI'' It looks as if the command line parsing for WinHugs (but not Hugs) is taking the second ``-E'' as a Hugs option (not a WinEdt option). A workround is to set registry settings or set the environment variable HUGSFLAGS but command line options are safer since users may reset registry settings and affect the next user of the machine (we are running MS-NT with a Novell networks). Has anybody else come across this problem and are there ways of quoting things to get the command line to work for WinHugs? The following piece of code is accepted by hugs data Record = MkRecord { field :: Int } v = MkRecord { field = 10 } but when i also include a class with the same name as the constructor class MkRecord a I get the following error: Dependency analysis ERROR "D:\test.hs":775 - Constructor "MkRecord" does not have selected fields in MkRecord{field = 10} If I try v = MkRecord 10 instead, I get an internal error: Type checking INTERNAL ERROR: typeAp1 (¯`·.¸¸.-> pepeg <-.¸¸.·´¯)

Not lazy/smart enough

If at the Hugs interpreter prompt I type: 3/4 == 3/4 ...I get "True" If I now type: 3/0 == 3/0 ...I should get "True" but I get a divide-by-zero error instead. Lazy conflict reports

I am not sure whether this has been reported before. At least, it's not listed on http://www.cse.ogi.edu/PacSoft/projects/Hugs/pages/bugsandfeatures.htm --- Hugs doesn't implement the lazy conflict reports. Thus, if you define module A where head = ":-)" then hugs complains Definition of variable "head" clashes with import The clash shouldn't be reported as there is no ambiguous *use* of `head'. If we change module `A' to module A where import Prelude hiding (head) head = ":-)" then everything works as expected. However, if we import `A' then the error shows up again module B where import A yo = 1 Entity "head" imported from module "A" already defined in module "Prelude" Several on my programs rely on this Haskell feature, so this is a continuous stumbling block ... i have a problem

dear worker of the huskell inc. im writing to you because i have a problem installing the winhugs on my computer, i have windows 98 and fallowing message before it gets down and i cant do anything else: prelude.hs does not define standart type "Word" after that i get a fatal error message and by clicking ok (the only choice) the program closes... i dont have office installed, is that why i have problems? i would be very very thankfull if you could help me, even though i know that this isnt the right email adress i wrote to. but please help me, i really need that help thx a lot for reading this already,
