Estimados señores: Soy alumno de la Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia (UNED). El presente curso estoy estudiando el maravilloso lenguaje de programacion funcional Haskell, en su version Hugs. Tengo instalado el entorno Hugs en un ordenador con Windows XP profesional, y me encuentro que no reconoce el comando escape y por tanto no puedo ejecutar el retorno de carro y LF en su version '\n'. Asi pues, al ejecutar unlines ["first line","second line"] acaba mostrando "first line\nsecond line\n". Me gustaria dar solucion a este problema. With the new version of Hugs98 (from November 2002) the GraphicsLib produces some problems: When using the withRGB function with the RGB datatype, Hugs doesn't recognize this datatype. The error is probably due to the new module-system, so that the RGB datatype doesn't get exportet. -- ciao dennis "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand"

Hi! Without any special options, hugs crashes on me when performing certain list operations. Hi! I think I have found a bug in the hugs prelude: Bug: definition of recip in the instance declaration of breaks silent assumptions about the internal data in Ratio types. Descriptiion: data Integral a => Ratio a = !a :% !a deriving (Eq) by deriving Eq a normal form is assumed. Further places do at least assume a positive denominator: > instance Integral a => Num (Ratio a) where > ... > abs (x :% y) = abs x :% y > signum (x :% y) = signum x :% 1 silently assume the denominator is positive unforturtunately the definition of recip > instance Integral a => Fractional (Ratio a) where > ... > recip (x:%y) = y :% x will break these properties. fix: remove the colon on the right hand side of the recip definition. Hope this helps - I havn't had the time to check if ghc and other implementations suffer from the same issue. regards, ralf welter
